  • ...It's International Boarding Day today and we've been celebrating in the boarding community by playing some garden games from around the world. We had games from Ghana, China, Japan, the USA and South Africa out on the lawn and the boarders had a great time!

    Time Activity Focus & Engagement
    09:45 - 10:00 Arrival & Drop-off Arrive at the Heritage Centre, use facilities, and drop bags in a dedicated area. Get into groups (e.g., 'Yorkist' and 'Tudor').
    10:00 - 11:30 The Interactive Exhibition Explore the multi-award-winning exhibition. Look for the 'Four Medieval Characters'—an archer, a mercenary's wife, a child, and Lord Stanley—to hear different perspectives. Hands-on: Try on replica armour and test your skills on the longbow firing exhibit.
    11:30 - 12:45 Guided Battlefield Trail Walk Led by a costumed guide, walk the 2km battlefield trail. This is where the story comes to life! Discovery: Visit Ambion Hill to discuss Richard III's final battle strategy and see the viewpoint. Activity: Look for the information boards detailing the battle's key moments.
    12:45 - 13:30 Lunch Break & Discovery Zone Enjoy a packed lunch in the undercover area or at the picnic spots. Afterwards, visit the Bosworth Discovery Zone for a free space to play and learn.
    13:30 - 14:30 Hands-On Workshop: Life of a Medieval Soldier Participate in a booked workshop (e.g., "Mick the Fletcher" or "Historic Re-enactments"). Experience: Handle replica weapons and armour, learn a pole arm drill, or find out about the fletcher's craft (making arrows).
    14:30 - 15:15 History Detectives: Archaeology Activity Focus on the archaeological finds that helped rediscover the true location of the battle. Challenge: Pupils examine photos/replicas of real artefacts (e.g., cannonballs, badges) and deduce what they can tell us about the people and events of 1485.
    15:15 - 15:45 Wrap-Up & Gift Shop Gather for a quick Q&A session with an educational guide. Visit the gift shop for souvenirs and resource material.
    15:45 - 16:00 Departure Board the coach for the journey home.
